Media Literacy Workshops
Media literacy is a critically important asset for millennial youth to possess. Every day youth in the United States are bombarded with dozens upon dozens of images and messages, most are NOT in their overall best interest. Many of the messages and images are trying to get youth to beg their parents/guardians to buy them material items. Other messages are riddled with overt images of violence, sexism, misogyny replete with stereotypically racist images.
We believe it is extremely important for youth to be trained to critically think, as well as to deconstruct media images before occupying their subconsciousness. Our workshops are geared to do just that—teach youth how to deconstruct the dominant images they are confronted with on a daily basis. Whether the young person is a scholar-athlete or a scholar. these workshops are constructive to youth, in general.
